The creative arts are a fabulous means of exploring the power of connection. The energy of the arts enables us to slip past the hard edges and expectations we all hold of science, burrowing straight into imagination, rhythm and the patterns of storytelling with which human beings are all born.

Suzanne’s work with creative arts organisations stretches across a broad landscape: from colleagues creating theatre for babies to those highlighting the work of celebrated artists to partners staging their own musical productions. Suzanne’s goal is to help all the partners she works with to feel confident about the science of connection, so that they can put it to use in their own domains.

Suzanne sometimes thinks that if we put creative artists in charge of disseminating the sciences of trauma, attachment and connection that we would make headway in changing culture much faster than is typically the case. The science of connection is ultimately the science of humanity, so maybe we should be seeking more ways to tell explore the mystery of ourselves. Creative artists are superb at that.

It is good to see that the admiration is mutual.  One of the leading makers of baby theatre in the world, Anna Newell, has said that she is  “delighted to have as an advocate the astonishing Dr Suzanne Zeedyk, whose work has creative massive ripples over the past 10 years in all kinds of fields”Nick Corston, who hosts the ArtsConnects Podcast says that even a chat with Suzanne is “inspiring, highlighting the amazing connections that babies form and how we break them at our peril”.

Here are examples of projects Suzanne has undertaken with organisations working in the creative arts.
